Florida Snow Ball
What’s happening? Snow Ball 2025 is on (though it’s almost full)!
The TFOOTD board of directors have secured an alternate venue for Snow Ball 2025 following the severe storm damage at our long-time venue, the Gulfport Casino, which made it unavailable for next year. Snow Ball 2025 will be taking place at Boca Ciega High School at 925 58th Street S in Gulfport, FL, the weekend of 24-26 January, 2025. (*Note – The School Board of Pinellas County, Florida, is neither sponsoring nor affiliated with this event.)
Registration is currently still open, though it is now almost full. It can be found by clicking on the Registration link in the menu above. We will try to update the tally of how many slots are still available on the Registration page each day.
As originally announced earlier this year, we still have the same talent for Snow Ball 2025 scheduled as follows:
Elixir is the ‘transcendance’ group of Anna Patton, Owen Morrison, Ethan Hazzard-Watkins,Jessie Readlynn, and Nils Fredland playing together since 2005. For years, Elixir has thrilled dancers with their high energy, rich textures, and playful improvisations. They will be playing with all the bravado of a multi-genre-inspired musical madness that sets our hearts and feet aflame.
Playing With Fyre featuring George Paul on piano, Rob Zisette on fiddle, and Steve Kemble on drums. Playing with Fyre brings a unique blend of trad, jazz, old time, funk, and blues creating dynamic and driving dance music packed with emotionality. A synchronicity of dance and music.
Nils Fredland has been calling contra dances with admirable skill and infectious energy since 2000. Respected for his sensitive leadership and generosity, he calls a repertoire of dancing from centuries old to contemporary choreography.
Beth Molaro lives in Asheville, NC and when she calls, the dance is always a party. Her enthusiasm is contagious and guaranteed to whoop and holler a good time! Beth is known for her quick no-nonsense walk throughs and high energy dances.
Jamie Platt, from Washington, DC, will be providing sound.
